Capt. Steve Lewey

Weapons and Communications Systems Officer

Action/FPS game (Male, protagonist, secondary character)

"Geez, I miss being out there with the shooters."

His independent, loner mentality and innate toughness made Steve feel right at home in a platoon of hard-charging Marine Recon warriors. A knack for both the battlefield technology and its effective use in operations helped him rise through the ranks, and he was almost bemused to find himself at OCS. While he never considered himself officer material, the Gunny Sergeant who convinced him to do it was clear: "The more officers we have like you, the fewer guys will come home in bags."

  1. Brief History: Steve Lewey was raised in Old Town, Maine, an only child of a Vietnam-era SEAL and a woman from the Penobscot Tribe. Steve spent much of his early life canoeing and hunting in the trackless lakes and forests of the state, listening to his father's stories, and becoming a crack rifle shot.
At his parents urging he enrolled in the University of Maine campus in nearby Orono, but was too restless for his studies in Forestry.  A number of run-ins with the administration convinced Steve that academics were simply not for him, and he decided to enroll in the Marines.
Steve excelled at the leadership challenges he faced in several low-intensity African conflicts, and as a Lieutenant was tapped by Mitchell to lead one of the Ghost platoons.  Epitomizing Mitchell's "lead from the front" mentality, Steve earned not only the respect of his men but also the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart on his way to being promoted to Captain.  Sadly, the second Purple Heart that Steve earned was at the cost of the use of his left leg.  Keeping up suppressing fire against FARC guerillas in Colombia on a hostage rescue mission, Steve – as always -- was the last man on the helicopter and paid a heavy price for his aggressive leadership style.
Refusing to leave the Ghosts, Steve has stayed on to help work on their high technology weapons and communications systems.  He is a valued resource due to his first-hand knowledge of the Ghosts' battlefield operations.
